This documentary by the Spanish NGO platform Observatorio de Responsabilidad Social Corporativo and co-produced by the Spanish national university of long distance education (UNED) addresses the key debates on the dominant roles played by multinational corporations in the contemporary world. It discusses the history of neoliberal globalization and goes beyond identifying the numerous problems to make the case for building alternatives.
NO A LA VENTA features interviews with academics, activists and other social commentators who lead us through issues such as the collusion between big business and government or the destructive implications of consumerism in daily life. The documentary shows in great detail the visible failures of policies on corporate social responsibility. It documents a very gloomy global picture even before the food and financial crises took root around the world in 2008 and 2009.
In a world increasingly shaped by corporate power, social inequalities and environmental degradation, NO A LA VENTA both teaches and challenges us to apply our knowledge of the problems in collective, constructive and sustainable ways.
